Sayan Chakraborty
The story of the face behind the new-age Bengali entrepreneurship movement & founder of Signtific India.
The Spark
Growing up in the historic lanes of Kolkata, Sayan was surrounded by the city's rich cultural heritage. But he also noticed a quiet decline in regional business leadership. While the city celebrated its past thinkers, writers, and artists, the economic landscape was increasingly driven by service-oriented mentalities. The common social path was to secure a corporate job in Delhi, Bangalore, or Mumbai. Sayan resolved to challenge this status quo.
Failing Forward
Like any real entrepreneurial journey, Sayan's path was paved with failures. His early ventures ran into cash flow problems, supply chain logjams, and market mismatches. But these roadblocks taught him the foundational realities of business: that customer trust is the ultimate capital, and managing cash flow cycles is far more critical than paper margins.
A Heritage Reimagined
In 2018, Sayan decided to step into his family's legacy. Signtific India was founded, rooted in over 75 years of experience and four generations of expertise in astrology and crystal healing. Shri Anandi Prasanna Vidhyanidhi and Shri Ashutosh Achayaa had started it in 1945. Sayan combined this traditional wisdom with modern supply chains, strict quality verification, and digital reach. Under his leadership, Signtific India scaled into a leading crystal startup, providing India's highest-grade healing crystals and supporting traditional lapidary artisans across the region.
The National Stage
In 2023, Sayan appeared on Shark Tank India Season 2, pitching his fast-food brand **WTF! (What The Food)**. Beyond securing investments, his appearance became a cultural catalyst. When Sayan introduced the phrase "Bangali Byabsha Korbe" on national television, he gave voice to a growing aspiration among the Bengali youth: to build companies, take calculated risks, and create regional wealth.
The Philosophy
Today, Sayan continues to build Signtific India while dedicating time to mentorship, startup summits, and local incubators. He believes that economic wealth generation is a vital component of cultural preservation. Through the "Bangali Byabsha Korbe" ecosystem, Sayan is helping the next generation of regional founders establish sustainable, profitable, and bootstrapped startups from Bengal.
